Your life includes living near your parents and everyone taking you as part of the furniture. But… you get to spend a lot of your middle years close to your parents, which gives you a very unique take on the feels that happen at “that time”.
When you’re middle aged yourself, you realise your youth as long gone and and any currency you had as a “cool elder” who “was actually there” is walking out the door.
You see your parents are getting proper old. Regressing. Needing care, love and understanding. Lots of forgiveness. You see them getting weaker and tireder and you also see your future.
The sky continues to turn, everyone changes places and the upheaval hurts. Middle age is a time you see your past leaving and your future arriving at the same time. No wonder it’s such a mindfuck.
