Yes, I am FULLY aware of that at first glance, this is a blog post, criticising the internet, shared via the internet.
That’s part of the problem – the first glance. People these days like to take the first glance and run with it as the Truth, the Truth, Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth.
This post is just me blethereing out an opinion. Just my feels. Not truth.
The internet is just a tool, like writing, like paper, like the phone – it’s what you put in that matters. GIGO* principle.
*In computer science, garbage in, garbage out (GIGO) is the concept that flawed, or nonsense (garbage) input data produces nonsense output. Rubbish in, rubbish out (RIRO) is an alternate wording.[1][2][3]
And I see it as a huge Karpman drama triangle.
Obvs there are the Aggressors, from “This is are cuntry” to “your argument is invalid because you haven’t researched it for several weeks and cross referenced it multiple times”
Victims a plenty. And not always for bad reasons. The awareness raising of the likes of BLM and TDOR are helping to create positive change in society.
Rescuers… ah these are the people I want to talk about now. Kinda following on from my previous post. By now you may have realised that, when faced with someone in rescue mode, I switch into aggressor mode if I don’t take a few deep breaths and remind myself to be kind.
And then there’s the intersection of Recue Mode and Capitalism.
Which results in “Hey! I notice you’re suffering with X problem. I have something that will help. Get onto my mailing list and I’ll send you my free report about X and I also have a programme and I also offer this and this and this for just 3 easy payments of 9.99.99.99.99.
I have no issue with people making a living
I have no issue with people telling others they sell things that can help
I don’t see everyone who can help on the internet as a Snake Oil Salesperson.
I just wish, sometimes, I could just HAVE a problem without having to BUY a solution RIGHT NOW.
What’s wrong with having problems? When did having a 100% easy, problem-free life become a goal?
Life is solving problems. Life is finding solutions. Life is making mistakes, fucking up, apologising, trying again, realising you’ve gone wrong AGAIN, picking up your original solution, finding it did work but needed a few tweaks.
This is what makes you feel good. Creatively solving your own problems will make you feel much better than that 12 part course that promised to give you the moon on a stick.
It doesn’t feel good in the middle of it, but the view from the top is worth it.
